It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.

And the rain is what cut our camping trip short this weekend. Misery loves CAMPING! Just kidding. We went with a wonderful family/tour guide of the area, the Spreens! Our boys wanted to try camping so off to Fort Stevens we went. It is amazing how much you have to pack to go camping. I mean, your trying to cram what ever is in your home into your SUV. We had a hobo dinner, berry cobbler and s’mores. Over all it was a good experience for the Gaul boys. (Except Ro’s swollen eye from a mosquito bite)
Travis gave us a tour of his home town of Astoria. We got some awesome sandwiches at Peter Pan Deli, hiked up the Astoria Column, rode the trolley and of course checked out the Goonie House. Truffle shuffle anyone?
We also checked out the local sites at Fort Stevens.
We will definitely try camping again.
